Dream ‘The Crow’ trailer’s black dream

The Crow
Lionsgate

It’s going to be blackly funny if the trailer for Rupert Sanders’ remake of The Crow — remember, guys, it’s an adaptation of the comic, not a remake of the Alex Proyas 1994 Goth classic — winds up attached to prints of Rose Glass’s Love Lies Bleeding when that comes out on Friday. It’s proof that, in the decade since he and Kristen Stewart were tabloid targets, she won that publicity war, even if she and Sanders both lost the initial battle with the media. Meanwhile, this dude did the Ghost in the Shell movie that got pilloried back in 2017.

So before you get treated to another iconic performance from K-Stew this weekend, you might have to sit through this first trailer for the long-gestating reboot, which Lionsgate dropped on Thursday. It looks just as lame as it did when the first pics of Bill Skarsgard in emo-rap get-up dropped a few weeks back, but you never know! It could be great, and we could all eat crow come summertime.

Sorry. We had to.

Anyway, peep it:

Here’s a synopsis:

“Bill Skarsgård takes on the iconic role of ‘The Crow’ in this modern reimagining of the original graphic novel by James O’Barr. Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.”

The Crow hits theaters on June 7. Anyway, go see Love Lies Bleeding this weekend, even if you must endure those three minutes of torture again. It’s a good flick. Also, we’re pretty sure that Katy O’Brian could kick this Crow’s ass.
