Things are about to get “Physical” at Somerville’s Crystal Ballroom. Later tonight (November 30), New York hip-hop duo Armand Hammer — comprised of Billy Woods and ELUCID, both musical behemoths of their own right — are set to take the Davis Square stage in support of their Fat Possum Records release We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, delivering the September album to the stage via what they’re calling “The Physical Experience.”
We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, a departure from their last release HARAM, notably features such fresh instrumentation as xylophone and flute, as well as collaborations with JPEGMAFIA, Cavalier, and more. While we won’t get the collabs on stage tonight, we’re eager to see what does make the trip to the ballroom.
Joining Armand Hammer will be Quelle Chris, a Detroit hip-hop staple, record producer, and self-identified “former Blockbuster employee” with a number of notable releases under his belt. Kayana, a fellow New Yorker and multi-hyphenate, kicks off the evening as she gears up to release an upcoming album of her own.
