This Show Is Tonight: Belly return to Paradise for a two-night twirl

Courtesy of Crossroads Presents

Back in the spring, Belly announced an October 5 show at The Paradise Rock Club here in Boston, making the beloved alt-rock band’s first live show in half a decade. “Start doing your calf raises Boston…First live Belly show in 5 years,” the band wrote on social. “Do you still have it?! Come and see if we do… Can’t wait to see all you beautiful Gluttons for Awesome. Let’s sell this gin joint out!”

They did exactly that. Turns out, the response was so strong — the show sold out faster than you can say “Gepetto” — that Belly have added a second local appearance, the night before, and that goes down tonight (October 4) on Commonwealth Avenue. So those who waited a few years for another Belly gig are now treated to two twirls around The ‘Dise.

Not bad.

Naturally, we were there in 2016 when Tanya Donelly and crew played their first proper U.S. show in 20 years, and two years later the world received their third studio album in Dove, which holds up quite nicely. We’re sure that record and all the classics will be on full display this evening and tomorrow (some tickets are still available for tonight). Oh, and get there early for the wonderful Parkington Sisters, who open both shows.

BELLY + PARKINGTON SISTERS :: Wednesday, October 4 and Thursday, October 5 at The Paradise Rock Club, 967 Commonwealth Ave. in Boston, MA :: 7 p.m., 18-plus, $35 :: Event info
