Yeah Yeah Yeahs, November 6
We were pretty disappointed back in the spring when Yeah Yeah Yeahs bailed on Boston Calling due to “illness” — talk about a Fever To Tell. But our city gets another dance with Karen O and the boys when the New York City trio rolls back up for a November 6 twirl at MGM Music Hall at Fenway. And we’re feeling our age, as the band’s iconic garage rock yearner “Maps,” a Top 5 song of the entire 2000s, was released 20 years ago this month. It still sounds as powerful as it did when we all first rushed to buy it at Newbury Comics, and that’s just one of the many classics we hope fills the YYYs setlist these days. We’re going in with a wish list of “Y Control,” “Zero,” and “Heads Will Roll” alongside stuff from last year’s Cool It Down comeback record (which gave us jams like “Blacktop”, “Burning”, and “Spitting Off The Edge of the World”). Call us basic, but “Maps” remains their gold standard. Meet us in the bathrooms. Tickets go on sale Friday (September 15) at 10 a.m. local time.
