Throughout her career behind the mic, Sam Jay has carried her true feelings about everything around her on her sleeve. With her next special, it seems, she’s sticking to the good stuff in many ways with a nod, or rather a salute, to even more elements of the human experience.
As announced on Thursday (September 7), the Dorchester native will be taking up with HBO to unleash her new one-hour special, Salute Me or Shoot Me, which premiered on September 23. In her second special, the comedian and writer brings us up to date in some major life milestones as she muses on some of the difficulties of being engaged, the unknown stresses of being “the man” in the relationship, the grim realities revolving around trash day, and the ultimate message of persevering through those challenges while working to find empathy for others in spite of our diverse differences.
Salute Me or Shoot Me will be Jay’s second full-length special, following her 2020 Netflix special 3 in The Morning. The new hour is set to premiere on HBO on September 23 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, and will then be available to stream on Max.
