Mic’d Up: Craig Ferguson, Kindra Lansburg, Jon, John & Pete, Dave Attell

Via The Wilbur

Editor’s Note: The vibes of football season, eating more apples off of trees than you actually pick, and what will inevitably be droves of I Think You Should Leave Halloween costumes (sexy pig with a Nixon mask, anyone?) are feeling more within reach by the day now as we say goodbye to summer and usher in summer (September’s version). However, live comedy is an four-season jamboree, and lucky for you, we’ve got you covered. With homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore highlighting the calendar, the plethora of powerful comedy throughout the commonwealth continues to show up, night after night. Enter Mic’d Up, our ongoing weekly series that details the best live comedy shows to consider as you head out and about. Below, find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (September 10).

Craig Ferguson at Academy of Music Theatre

Whether the inspiration is found inward or outward, Craig Ferguson continues to be one of the true masters of unpacking absurdity, and meshing it with a jovial and high-energy approach to finding the hilarity in everyday things. Always personal and always relatable, Ferguson doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon, but make no mistake that you should be checking out his latest hour whenever you get the chance.

CRAIG FERGUSON :: Thursday, September 7 at Academy of Music Theatre, 247 Main St. in Northampton, MA :: 7:30 p.m., $35 to $184 :: Advance Tickets

Kindra Lansburg at Nick’s Comedy Stop

Week after week, Nick’s has been the place to be, and with Kindra Lansburg making her way to the stage for another night to tack onto that unbeatable streak, we’re gonna tell you to turn around and head right back. Offering up a healthy dose of self-deprecation, storytelling, and finely tuned joke writing, Lansburg has already made a name for herself around the area, but it’s about that the name be shouted just a tad louder.

KINDRA LANSBURG :: Friday, September 8 at Nick’s Comedy Stop, 100 Warrenton St. in Boston, MA :: 8 p.m., $22 :: Advance Tickets

Jon, John & Pete at MassMutual Center

It’s the most obvious thing to say that you’re in for a great show when three superstar comedians converge on the same stage on the same night. But given that Jon Stewart, John Mulaney and Pete Davidson all offer a little different somethin’ somethin’ that make each individual offering a truly exciting spectacle all on their own, the likelihood of finding a show that can even resemble the level of pure comedy magic is, erm, not very likely at all.

JON, JOHN & PETE :: Friday, September 8 at MassMutual Center, 1277 Main St. in Springfield, MA :: 7:30 p.m., tickets start at $75 :: Advance Tickets

Dave Attell at The Wilbur

Even after all these years in the game, nobody makes misery funnier than Dave Attell. While he doesn’t operate at the level of bombast like other living legends of the craft, Attell’s low-key demeanor speaks even more to the comedy powerhouse he still maintains, only adding more perspective and experience to his outlook with every trip he takes to town.

DAVE ATTELL :: Friday, September 8 at The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: 6:30 and 9 p.m., $35 to $40 :: Advance Tickets
