Boston Flowers navigate the busy city like an indie-pop ‘Man On Mars’

Let’s get this right out of the way: Boston Flowers are not from Boston. But we won’t hold that against the Brooklyn indie-pop band, who today (August 15) roll out an infectious new single called “Man On Mars.”

And now, hold on to your butts, because we’re here to report that “Man On Mars” is not about a little space astronaut either; in fact, it’s about that feeling that takes over when navigating the big city, and how the band wants its fans to “treat every second of life with utmost value, and to treat each day with a sense of community,” according to a release.

Boston Flowers lead vocalist and guitarist Brad Flowers takes it a step further, stating: “Being in a busy city (like New York City) and working in a workplace with multiple moving parts, ‘Man On Mars’ touches on the interpersonal connections we must find to make it through each day, and growing a temporary armor to keep the bad away.”

Boston Flowers, whose band moniker was inspired as a twist on Austin Powers, are set to release new album Mondegreen on September 13. We don’t think they have any Boston shows lined up just yet, but when they do, we’ll call it a sort of homecoming.
