When it rains, it pours, and Gogo. isn’t afraid to let the storm wash him clean. The Boston artist flips an old adage into an accepting state of mind in his new single “W.I.R.I.P.”, coincidentally released last month (July 27) amidst Massachusetts’ never-ending showers.
The song teases Gogo.’s forthcoming EP BLVCK NOIR by funneling stormy weather — literally and figuratively — into a stream of catharsis that crashes over a beat from Boston producer abu617.
“I drove my car on the beach and wrote this song during a thunderstorm — an emotional thunderstorm and a literal one,” Gogo. says, reflecting on the song’s inspiration. “It’s a dark, dark euphoric state, a euphemism for depression, sadness, and pain.”
His warring emotions swirl in tandem, forming a eye of the storm to cools down the chaos. “It’s 2023 — let’s dance these traumas off,” he concludes.
