It’s the summer of Metric. The Toronto indie survivalists recently hit Boston as part of the Garbage and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds co-headlining tour, and we’ve had technicolor new single “Just The Once” playing on a loop in our personal “regret disco” over the past few weeks.
Now Emily Haines and the boys are handing the goods over to the fans, who’ve all chipped in with visuals for Metric’s official fan video for “Just The Once,” the lead track off October’s Formentera II album.
“We received hundreds of submissions from all over the world for our spontaneous ‘Just The Once’ fan generated music video,” says Haines. “It was nearly impossible to choose which clips would make the final cut because, of course, I wanted to use them all. Once I started watching all these excellent unique one off humans (and animals!) being all kinds of adorable and making ‘Just The Once’ their own, I couldn’t stop. Aerial Gymnastics! Omelets! Woodworking! Dancing Dogs! Cowboys! Rollerskate! Thanks again for being your wild selves. Metric fans rule.”
The feelings are mutual.
