Here’s some fun news for a Monday: NICE, a fest, has revealed its performer lineup for 2023. And needless to say, it’s very NICE. More than 70 bands and artist will perform at Somerville’s Crystal Ballroom and The Rockwell, both located walking distance from each other in Davis Square, across four days and nights of music over the weekend of July 20 to 23.
Back for its third year, the venue-based, all-homegrown music festival is headlined by Karate, Swirlies, Guerilla Toss, Frances Forever, Ovlov, Valleyheart, Bent Knee, Izzy Heltai, Dino Gala and Will Dailey, with an undercard just as as rich and deep. NICE, a fest is presented by local booking company Get To The Gig Boston, headed by Alex Pickert, the 2021 and 2022 Boston Music Awards Talent Buyer of the Year.
Others taking part this year are Beeef, Gatch, Senseless Optimism, Cape Crush, Exit 18, Maeko, Tory Silver, Radio Compass, Lost Film, and plenty others.
“There was something in the air last year that was so special. I can’t wait to recreate it bigger and better this summer!” says Pickert. “I am so excited for the 3rd installment of NICE, a fest. It’s so important to me that Boston has an all-local fest. We are often overlooked as a big music scene but I’m here to prove to you that the despite the lack of venues and practice spaces in the city, the Boston Music Scene is alive and THRIVING! I am stoked to have 74 of the best of the best Boston area bands on NICE, a fest 2023! There is something on this lineup for every type of listener, rock, indie, pop, hip-hop, punk, and everything in between. This is gonna be another NICE summer.”
