Back in January, Superlove sent a white-hot jolt down our frozen spines with the seismic single “GO!”, which sparked a very early entry on our freshly-minted SOTY 2023 lists. So how does a Bristol noise-pop trio follow up a mega-jam like that? By offering up “Something Good,” obviously.
This new single, which hit this past Friday (March 17) via Rude Records, has a little more pop polish than the prior effort, but still carries Superlove’s turbo-charged rock and roll ruckus. It’s got a sensitive, more yearning side, and is super easy to listen to; and that aligns oh, so nicely with the meaning behind the tune.
“The inspiration behind ‘Something Good’ may be familiar to a lot of people,” the band says. “It’s about that really awful day where all you want to do is get home and talk it through with your chosen someone. May it be a partner — girlfriend, boyfriend, family member or friend, whoever is your rock. It’s an appreciation of that person in your life who listens and helps you get through it all.”
