NASA’s overlooking a serious resource by not using Astral Bitch’s inflammatory grunge as rocket fuel. Case in point — the Boston band launches a defunct friendship into the stratosphere with their new single “You’ve Got it Wrong,” a biting final chapter for a close bond that needs to be broken. The new track arrived last week (February 28) with an equally cutting b-side titled “How to Breathe.”

“One of the most painful aspects about growing up was realizing how some friendships devolve into both people bringing out the absolute worst in each other,” says vocalist and songwriter Sam Coren. “‘You’ve Got it Wrong’ is about the breaking point where assumptions begin spiraling into resentment that makes a relationship completely unsalvageable.”

But if “You’ve Got it Wrong” gives listeners a hearty shove, “How to Breathe” represents Astral Bitch’s outstretched hand. “When you’ve got no one left to turn to / You can run away with me, babe,” Coren sings on the chorus, offering reprieve as she reflects on the head-spinning contradictions that accompany mourning.

“Getting over the unexpected death of someone you love is a difficult balancing act,” she shares. “‘How to Breathe’ acknowledges the constant push and pull between trying to move forward with life while allowing yourself to have the space to work through hard emotions.”

With their duo of new tunes, Astral Bitch make room for that universe of feelings, aggravation to grief, all cloaked in the same stellar grunge.
