The best kind of enchantment is the one that comforts and confronts with a combined sense of lullaby warmth and delicate dread, lulling us forward to places we’ve only dared dream of experiencing. That’s the sense we feel as we get lost in Elita’s new single “She Bangs Like A Fairy on Acid,” a sensual goth-leaning bedroom-pop track that might be the greatest Christmas present to emerge from the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
“I made this song at my parents house on Christmas Day,” says Elita guitarist and keyboardist Tim Rypien. “I was messing around with their digital piano trying to recreate the Unsolved Mysteries theme song. I missed the mark but thankfully the beat for ‘She Bangs Like A Fairy on Acid’ was born.”
Adds Elita, who lends the trio their namesake: “Timmy and I tried mushrooms for the first time before writing this song. I felt like I was living in a little fairy world and that totally inspired this song. I wrote the lyrics on Christmas, too.”

Elita are set to release their debut album Dysania on March 22 via Opposition, a few weeks before kicking off an extended North American tour here in Boston at Red Room at Cafe 939 on April 7.
