Watch The Sheila Divine incorporate the classics into their live ‘Hum’

When you’ve been playing a certain song in nearly every live set for nearly 25 years, it makes sense to want to mix it up a bit. That’s what The Sheila Divine did back in November, when the Boston indie band held hometown court at The Paradise Rock Club on Black Friday.

Midway through their headlining set, the band ripped through breakout 1999 hit “Hum” — but the audience quickly realized it was no ordinary rendition. A few minutes in, the song shifted to a series of snippets that spanned three separate decades for one awesome medley: Danzig’s “Mother”; AC/DC’s “It’s A Long Way To The Top”; and a relatively familiar one in the Sheila Divine live set, and by online request, Quiet Riot’s “Bang Your Head (Metal Health)”.

Video of the performance was captured that evening by Aaron Eskeets, who was also working the stage’s live projections with Ben K. Foley, and a clip has today (January 25) surfaced on YouTube.

Watch it below, sing along to all your favorite parts, and take note: The Sheila Divine return to The ‘Dise on March 10, leading a very ’90s-flavored evening alongside Tugboat Annie and Vic Firecracker.
