Ron Gallo welcomes the end of days with ‘At Least I’m Dancing’

Back in the day at the long-lost soul nights, we used to dance to keep from crying. These days in our bedrooms, under the comfort of headphones, we’re dancing to keep from dying. But when that inevitable sweet release comes knocking, we’ll have plenty loaded up on the playlist, led by Ron Gallo’s animated new apocalyptic dance-punk belter “At Least I’m Dancing.” Hitting the streams today (January 17), the track is fueled by the fire of the world burning around us and will be featured on the Philadelphia artist’s forthcoming album, Foreground Music, set for a March 3 release via Kill Rock Stars.

“What else can you do?” says Gallo. “I don’t know where things are going, but I think the world is gonna be what we make it and so giving a shit is always a good choice. If that fails at least we will enjoy the last moments we have.”

That sounds like solid advice, no matter what the times call for. Gallo takes this tune and all his others out for a string of global dates this year, and the North American leg of his upcoming tour gets heated just after SXSW, with a stop at The Middle East in Cambridge on April 5.
