At what point do we admit that Bob Iger is just cursed when it comes to dropping hugely-anticipated trailers for the biggest Disney products during big-ticket football games? Just a week or so ago, the new Ant-Man trailer premiered in the middle of the College Football Playoff National Championship (what a name), which saw a viewership decline so precipitous in the minutes before halftime that it looked like your average shitcoin cryptocurrency. And now the same thing happened to The Mandalorian, whose trailer premiered in the middle of Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys’ thumping of Tom Brady and the Buccaneers last night (we’re normally not fans of running up the score — because, you know, sportsmanship exists — but it would have been funny to see the headlines from the New York Post if Dallas had managed to drop 80 on Brady). But the wonderful thing about the Internet is that you can, in fact, change the channel and just watch the preview the next morning, and we’ve got it right here for you.
Peep it:
We’ve got a Kowakian monkey-lizard (like Salacious Crumb!), Babu Frik (or at least other members of their respective species), and Carl Weathers, which means this will be one hell of a party. Also, some prequel-era flashbacks! Are we going to learn more about Baby Yoda’s origins? Will anybody ever call him Grogu? The answers to those questions are pretty simple: Probably, and absolutely not.
Here’s a synopsis:
“The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.”
The Mandalorian‘s third season will premiere on Disney+ on March 1.
