James Scott Patterson and friends at The Rockwell
Back to the scene of the crime of his lone special, Superior Design, the longtime Boston comedy staple returns to Somerville with a fresh arsenal of naturally potent and well-sculpted material, as well as a few friends like Bethany Van Delft, Dan Boulger, and a few special guests.
JAMES SCOTT PATTERSON :: Wednesday, January 11 at The Rockwell, 255 Elm St. in Somerville, MA :: 8 p.m., $20 to $25 :: Advance tickets
Free comedy at Lansdowne Pub
With the region being so heavily bulked with comedy talent, sometimes the best shows to check out aren’t the ones advertised on big flashy signs. Such is the case with the midweek edition of a free comedy night Lansdowne Pub. Check out one of the city’s coziest food and drink spots, while also checking out a lineup of battle-tested comics that are sure to bring you a great night of laughs that won’t break the bank.
COMEDY AT LANSDOWNE PUB :: Wednesday, January 11 at Lansdowne Pub, 9 Lansdowne St. in Boston, MA :: 7:30 p.m., free :: Event info
Gary Petersen at City Winery
You just can’t bring Gary Petersen down. He’s virtually unbeatable, and as part of Boston Comedy Festival’s wildly successful and ongoing Comedy and Cabernet series at City Winery, you could say he pairs nicely with the setting, if we’re going to use wine terms. He joins a list of scorching locally-sourced talent to take the stage at the intimate and fairly upscale venue, and it isn’t a stretch he’s one of the best on that list to do it.
GARY PETERSEN :: Friday, January 13 at City Winery, 80 Beverly St. in Boston, MA :: 6 p.m., $25 to 29 :: Advance tickets
Sean Sullivan at Nick’s Comedy Stop
It’s never not a good time when Sullivan makes his way into town, and we can’t imagine this would be any different. With an ever-present, and generally correct confidence in completely killing on stage, Sullivan has only continued to show how and why he’s consistently climbing the ranks, and since his last proper release, he’s only gotten better. One of the best in the scene throwing down at one of the best spots on the map? Sign us up, that’s a win-win.
SEAN SULLIVAN :: Friday, January 13 and Saturday, January 14 at Nick’s Comedy Stop, 100 Warrenton St. in Boston, MA :: 8 p.m., $26.20 :: Advance tickets
Dulcé Sloan at Off Cabot Comedy Club
Always one to bring down the house with equal parts grace, power, and of course a dangerously sharp comedic edge, Sloan has consistently proven herself to be one of the hardest hitting and unshakable forces in the game. Don’t miss the special opportunity to catch one of The Daily Show’s brightest stars in action.
DULCÉ SLOAN :: Friday, January 13 and Saturday, January 14 at Off Cabot Comedy Club, 9 Wallis St. in Beverly, MA :: Friday at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.; Saturday at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., $25 :: Advance tickets
