When we last caught up with Silversun Pickups, the Los Angeles band was readying the release of Physical Thrills, their Butch Vig-produced sixth studio album that dropped in August after first capturing our attention with a stomping new track called “Scared Together.” It gave us all sorts of Carnavas vibes, and reminded us why we first fell in love with these cats all those years ago.
At that time a tour was promised, but not detailed, and turns out the Boston date hits tonight as Silversun Pickups roll into our House of Blues with an inspired opener, Australia’s Eliza & The Delusionals, who released one of our most favorite recent songs ever in 2019’s “Just Exist” (revisit our 2020 interview with them).
Silversun Pickups’ Brian Aubert described “Scared Together” as a song “about becoming close and intimate with someone through hardship. Being thrown into something quite frightening brings out some shared qualities that connect them.”
We feel that. Check out both songs below before you hit Lansdowne tonight.
SILVERSUN PICKUPS + ELIZA & THE DELUSIONALS :: Wednesday, November 2 at The House of Blues, 15 Lansdowne St. in Boston, MA :: 7 p.m., all-ages, $36 to $46 :: Event info :: Advance tickets
