Warning: This new David Bowie cover could get you pregnant. It comes from a holy dark-pop trinity union of ACTORS, Leathers, and Bootblacks, who glam up and merge sinister seduction in the glorious sight and sound of David Bowie’s 1979 gender-bending mainstay “Boys Keep Swinging.”
The Artoffact Records release, complete with hot-under-the-collar video directed by Dan O’Connell that pays drag homage to the Duke’s OG visual from 43 years ago, dropped just as ACTORS and Bootblacks head off for a handful of solo European dates before linking up for 16 shows across the Atlantic beginning Halloween night in Paris (we told you to catch ACTORS here in Cambridge a few weeks back, yeah).
Come for the familiar comfort of Bowie, but stay for the white-hot Kendall Wooding guitar solo in the sultry name of Adrian Belew, and allow Leathers/ACTORS dual threat Shannon Hemmett to stare deep into the soul as we unlearn all we have learned.
Keep swingin’, indeed.
