Over the summer we got lost in a retro-fit haze with Ladytron, as the influential Liverpool electronic-pop band were raising a glass to the 20th anniversary of stellar sophomore album Lights & Magic with all sorts of new and unreleased content. But the group that always sounded like the future was never going to lean entirely into the past, and so the synth quartet have detailed forthcoming seventh album Time’s Arrow with a few choice details and a bewitching new single titled “City of Angels.” Hear it below.

Meantime, Time’s Arrow is out January 20 via Cooking Vinyl, with shows in the UK and US to shortly follow. We captured images from their 2019 appearance at Royale in Boston; revisit those visuals here.

Looking ahead, with full hearts and a fuller mind, an eager tone is set with “City of Angels,” which is billed as being rooting in a theme of “a near future collapse of cultural memory,” according to press notes. As Daniel Hunt puts it: “It’s about forgetting, ‘…how fragile it is’. Not about one particular place or other, but a merging of them.”

Play it forward below.
