Remember a few years ago when the mayor’s office would declare holidays for bands, like Godsmack Day and Mighty Mighty Bosstones Day? Well, we’re petitioning local government to loosen up the homegrown requirements and declare tonight (September 26) Carly Rae Jepsen Day across the city, for no other reason than the fact that the pop star rolls into town to play a sold-out Roadrunner in Brighton. That’s it, that’s the post.
With the pop wind at her back, Jepsen brings The So Nice Tour into Boston Landing this evening, showing off a host of sterling 2022 singles, including May’s “Western Wind,” co-written with Rostam Batmanglij, as well as the rest (hopefully) of her forthcoming album, The Loneliest Time, set for October 21 release via 604/Schoolboy/Interscope Records.
Our Boston date arrives early in this run, Jepsen’s first headline tour in three years, so if summer is the season of emotion, then let autumn officially become the season of E•MO•TION. That’s right — buckle up, look busy, and call us whenever because Carly Rae Jepsen is back in town. And it should be a damn holiday.
CARLY RAE JEPSEN + EMPRESS OF :: Monday, September 26 at Roadrunner, 89 Guest St. in Boston, MA :: 8 p.m., all ages, sold out :: Event page
