Duck & Cover flash a screen before our very eyes on ‘Memento Mori’

Screengrab

Back in February (remember that?) we were treated to a ripper of a tune from Charlestown punk band Duck & Cover, and it was an electrified reminder that we’re all going to die. This week the dudes reiterate that very fact by putting their local SOTY contender (heard that BMA NomCom?) into video form, and it’s a twirl around someone’s house in Everett, seen through your grandmother’s old Toshiba television, produced and directed by Peter DeBarros.

Take warning, it’s now playing via BlankTV.

“In a previous band I’d written a song — we wrote a song — called ‘Persona Non Grata’ that I liked a lot,” Duck & Cover vocalist and guitarist Chris Wissmuller told us when the stream hit. “And when I ran across the term ‘Memento Mori’ and what it meant a couple years back I was like, ‘Oh, that’s also a nifty Latin phrase and smart folks know Latin, so that can’t be a bad starting point.’ My intent was to (I guess?) write a pretty threatening ‘You’ll get yours, pal!’ type of thing, but — go figure — it wound up being more of an unrequited affection/infatuation gone wrong track, as per usual.”

Let the facts flicker before your very eyes below.
