It’s always a good feeling to see a locally-grown voice making a trip back home for a big homecoming, but it’s an even better feeling when there’s two bringing it back to the mothahland.
First, Pete Holmes is set to bring his Where Were We? tour to The Wilbur on October 16. It will mark the Lexington native’s first time taking center stage at The Wilbur, and it will also be his first time back in the city since 2019. Aside from his wildly successful stand-up career, Holmes has also created, wrote and starred in the critically-acclaimed HBO series Crashing, which ran on the network for three seasons before ending in 2019. He has also written a book, 2018’s Comedy Sex God, and he currently hosts the You Made It Weird podcast.
Not long after Holmes makes himself back at home for the night, Milton native and award-winning comedian and actress Jenny Slate will also make her way to The Wilbur for a night, as she unleashes her latest batch of unique humor on November 8. It’s been a few years since Slate has been on the Wilbur stage, but for good reason as she’s continued to bring her comedy and acting credits to the next level with roles in a number of films including On The Rocks with Bill Murray and Rashida Jones, the highly-anticipated and well-received Marcel The Shell With Shoes On (which she starred in, as well as wrote and produced) and most recently reprising her role as Tammy Larsen in The Bob’s Burgers Movie earlier this year.
Hometown power aside, The Wilbur will continue build on their strong lineup to finish out the year, and look even further ahead to next year as Mark Normand has added a third show to his highly-anticipated (and very sold out) Wilbur debut on December 1 as part of his All Over The Road tour, before the consistently potent and seasoned stand-up veteran Kathleen Madigan brings her Boxed Wine & Banjos show to Tremont Street on April 1, 2023 for some April Fool’s Day shenanigans in the heart of the Theatre District.
Tickets for these shows can be accessed now via presale by using the code VANYA before they are released to public on-sale on Friday (September 16) at noon ET, with the exception of Madigan’s show, which goes on sale on Friday at 10 a.m. ET.
