The Boston area already has its own lengthy history with the local institution that is the Channel 5 news, but leave it up to Andrew Callaghan to put a stamp on the name with his own brand of humor and curiosity.
Bringing his smash hit YouTube show to the live stage, Callaghan will make The Center for the Arts at the Armory his playground on December 16, as he bring with him a multimedia experience that boasts live interviews, a movie screening, and in true zany Callaghan fashion, a “Rappers and Magicians” Q&A. There’s no telling what is in store for the Somerville crowd this winter, as the Seattle native’s rise to prominence over the last few years has come as a result of his unconventional yet in-depth reporting and interview tactics. But what we can all but assume is that Callaghan will deliver the night’s plan with as much commitment and passion as he has since the days of his original projects Quarter Confessions and All Gas No Brakes in 2019, before launching Channel 5 in April 2021.
The anticipation for Callaghan’s arrival will surely swell as we close in on the end of the year, but before we get there, The Wilbur continues to throw down with force as comedian, musician, writer, and Wild ‘N Out star Chico Bean makes his way to the city for a little improvised fun on Tremont Street on November 19.
Meanwhile, Medford’s Chevalier Theatre continues to plan for a long haul of stand-up hilarity as Megan Stalter, of HBO’s Hacks fame, Patti Harrison, as seen in the feature film Together Together and Hulu’s Shrill, and Saturday Night Live’s Sarah Sherman bring a trio of pure comedic force to the stage on October 20 before we take a look ahead to the new year, when Eric D’Alessandro and Vic DiBitetto join forces to unleash some double-featured hilarity on January 14.
Tickets for these shows can be accessed now via presale by using the code VANYA before tickets are released to public on-sale on Friday (August 26) at noon ET.
