Since the inception of this space known as Vanyaland, we have prided ourselves on working hard to bring voices of the local arts community to the forefront in the arenas of music, comedy and film.
Now, we’re bringing that to you in a whole new, celebratory way.
As teased last month, the very first Vanyaland Comedy & Music Festival sets sail on its maiden voyage at Bellforge Arts Center on Saturday, August 13, the site of the former Medfield State Hospital and host to a full slate of summer programming southwest of Boston. It’s a free, outdoor, all-ages event, and everyone is invited, with RSVPs encouraged here.
Just as we’ve done on screens over the past nine years, the Vanyaland team has curated a dual-theme live experience by bringing a deeper focus to some of the most potent talent to come out of the local comedy and music scenes. Hosted by Will Smalley and The Gas’ Rob Crean, holding down the fort for comedy will be a smattering of the area’s certified comedy killers represented by Ken Reid, Nick Ortolani, Tiny, Shaun Connolly, Emily Ruskowski, Brieana Woodward, and Andrew Mayer. The show is headlined by Brian Glowacki, who recently made history as the first unsigned, independent comedian to take the headlining spotlight at Boston’s legendary Wilbur Theatre.
Keep an eye out for more information regarding event schedules, as well as the day’s slate of live music. And as Bellforge has done all summer long, there will be local food and drink vendors, both of the adult and other kind, and more.
Stay tuned…
