Band in the USA: VHS Collection take ‘Night Drive’ out for a spin

Via Planetary

Last spring we became straight-up smitten with VHS Collection’s Drive-inspired retro-modern cruiser “The Dark,” which pulled up on our street with a seductively nocturnal visual and an aura that immediately grabbed hold of our senses. It eventually became the lead track to the New York synth rock and alt pop trio’s February album Night Drive, and now VHS Collection are taking the record and all its arcs and storylines out on the road for a handful of shows next month.

For us, we’ll be driving to The Sinclair in Cambridge for the July 27 gig, and we won’t be surprised if we find ourselves taking the long way home down Memorial Drive after the show, rolling the corridor along the Charles River where the Boston skyline is in full view. It’s part of the experience.

“We’ve all had experiences driving at night, alone or with friends, on a road trip or some cool place,” says VHS Collection guitarist and producer Conor Cook. “Growing up, that’s a part of how you experience music. You get your license, and you can drive around with your friends listening to your favorite records. For me, it feels like a coming-of-age thing.”
