Michael Christmas and Ricky Felix beat the clock with ‘Christmas in 6’

Apparently, Christmas is only a six-hour affair in Brockton.

The city recently felt the holiday hustle when Michael Christmas and Ricky Felix rolled up to the studio with an album deadline in mind: Six hours tops, no exceptions. The rapper-producer pair didn’t need a second more to craft Christmas in 6, their collaborative project from earlier this month (June 22).

The slick six-song album plays like a year-long labor of love, despite the fact that it practically came together between breakfast and dinner. The time it took to create and commit to their idea was even shorter — roughly the course of one Cousin Stizz set.

“Me and @rickyfelixx decided to make this whole thing at @cousinstizz show,” Christmas shared on Instagram. “I said we gon make a project in one day, in 6 hours and call it ‘Christmas In 6.’ 3 days later I went to Brockton to see how VB [Van Buren Records] gets down and we made something I really love.”

“This album done showed me how to make magic in a limited time, and @michaelchristmas banging out tracks in 10 minutes was a sight to see,” Felix added in his own post.

Other artists leave their mark on the record as well, including Rebel Mafia Global, Tony Shhnow, Joseph Chilliams, and Ricky Felix’s fellow Van Buren Records member, Jiles. Let’s break down some stats: That’s six artists across six tracks, spanning roughly 18 minutes, written and recorded in six hours. Phew. Someone pass these folks a Gatorade.
