How do you follow up something called “Patrick Bateman?” With exposed “Bones”, if we’re being honest. Though in this case we’re not talking about Bret Easton Ellis here, we’re instead ignoring all the American psychos around us and raising a glass north to Canada, where Toronto duo Housewife have shared a golden new single titled “Bones (God Like You).” The warm track was co-written and produced by Jackson Phillips of Day Wave and recorded at his studio in Los Angeles.

“‘Bones’ is about struggling with ongoing mental health issues and feeling like you won’t get better, like a broken bone that can’t heal properly,” say Housewife. “It always seems like everyone around you is doing better and it reminds you of how lost you are in your own illness. There’s also an interesting juxtaposition with this track that Jackson helped us create; lyrically it’s quite dark and touches on suicide, but it has this bright rhythm to it.”

Put this on instead of Huey Lewis & The News. And check out May’s “Patrick Bateman” while we’re at it.
