Holy shit here’s a new song (and tour dates!) from The Mars Volta

YouTube

The New Music Tuesday (June 21) is off the chain. Not only are we already blessed with a new Beyoncé banger to propel us through the day, The Mars Volta also return with their first new track in a decade. It’s a Latin-psych cruiser called “Blacklight Shine,” it’s got a heavy dose of percussion, and it’s former At the Drive-In members Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-López’s first new studio music under The Mars Volta moniker since 2012’s Noctourniquet. The track clocks in just under three minutes in length, but arrives with an extended 11-minute long music video directed by Rodríguez López. It’s a motherfucking party. Drink it in.

UPDATE 10:12 a.m. EDT: The Mars Volta have also announced a fall tour, including an October 1 date at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, their first live dates since 2012. Tickets go on sale Friday (June 24) at 10 a.m. local time via themarsvoltaofficial.com.
