BIA and J. Cole flex across the pond in new single ‘London’

Screengrab

What’s a budding rap giant to do with a “whole lotta money”? Spend it overseas, naturally. BIA whips out her black card on a whim in “London,” her new single and first release since 2021’s “Whole Lotta Money” remix with Nicki Minaj.

J. Cole joins BIA for the massive shopping spree, which spans the luxe clothing racks of Prada, Dior, and Louis Vuitton. “This ain’t rented / Straight from the plane I boarded / Maybe you can’t afford it,” she raps, while J. Cole later chimes in with the cheeky (if not irreverent) remark “Even Elizabeth said I’m king!” But the pair’s most impressive finds aren’t behind glass display cases — they’re behind the track’s beats. “London” teems with local flavor; in addition to BIA’s Medford creds, Boston producers AzizTheShake, Jon Glass, and Tim Nihan each left their mark on the song.

In a literal sense, “London” shares the ritzy joys of flexing in a foreign country. But from where we’re sitting, it’s a demonstration of just how quickly a Boston collab can reach across the pond.
