Nine Inch Nails added to Boston Calling 2022 lineup

Via NIN.com

Yesterday Boston Calling promised us some news — and now we got it. The music festival revealed today (April 6) that Nine Inch Nails has been added as the Friday night headliner for its Memorial Day weekend festival at Allston’s Harvard Athletic Complex. The legendary industrial band will take the place of Foo Fighters, who have cancelled all upcoming live appearances after the sudden and tragic death last month of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins.

In a cryptic post to social media yesterday, Boston Calling cited an incoming announcement and added a nail-painting emoji to their captions. That led to feverish speculation that the new headliner could be Nine Inch Nails, Lizzo, or even Machine Gun Kelly.

Nine Inch Nails will now join The Strokes (Saturday) and Metallica (Sunday) as this year’s headliners, May 27 to 29, as Boston Calling returns after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Trent Reznor and crew will close out the opening night of the fest, which will feature performances by Rüfüs Du Sol, HAIM, Avril Lavigne, Cheap Trick, The Struts, Pom Pom Squad, as others; as well as Boston acts Avenue, Miranda Rae, and The Chelsea Curve.
