Next month we’re getting a new biographical drama about punk icons the Sex Pistols, directed by Danny Boyle, and in advance of its May 31 premiere on Hulu, we’re treated to an official teaser this week to show just what all the filthy lucre fuss is about. The six-part FX mini-series is called Pistol, and it chronicles the iconic punk band’s infamous rise to prominence in the late-’70s. Notably, John Lydon has already tried to stop it from happening, and was unsuccessful.
Pistol is based on guitarist Steve Jones’ 2017 memoir Lonely Boy: Tales From a Sex Pistol, and the cast includes Anson Boon as Johnny Rotten; Louis Partridge as Sid Vicious; and Toby Wallace as Jones. Thomas Brodie-Sangster, the squirrelly fella from The Queen’s Gambit, is on board as Sex Pistols manager and architect Malcolm McLaren. Coincidentally Game of Thrones‘ Maisie Williams stars as Jordan, the punk legend born Pamela Rooke who died earlier this week at the age of 66. Her character is just as recognizable in the trailer as the band, if not more.
