We’ve had more than a few reasons to hit up Crystal Ballroom at the Somerville Theatre over the past several months, as the new venue has been a magnificent, and very much needed, addition to our local stage circuit. Tonight (March 22), the Davis Square joint welcomes Cannons to its glitzy stage, and the Los Angeles alt-pop trio bring with it a host of fiery jams that makes even a Tuesday feel like a Friday. If this show came to our city last month, our blurbage would likely center around Cannons’ unfuckwithable 2019 breakout banger “Fire For You”, but Michelle Joy and the boys this month just released another sonic seducer in the glistening “Hurricane,” the fourth and final single before new album Fever Dream drops this Friday via Columbia. Is tonight the record release party? No. Can it be if you want it? Absolutely.
