This week it seems everyone’s a little bit Irish, and now we got a new track to enhance our playlist beyond the usual alt-indie standards. It comes from Dublin’s Fontaines D.C., who take on the massive task of covering the most iconic Dublin band of all time in U2.

Here for Apple Music Home Session, Vol.2, Fontaines D.C. cover U2’s 1992 mega-hit “One,” the legendary third single from the prior year’s Achtung Baby album. This rendition has a melancholic, end-of-night lounge act flair to it, perfect for that last call after all the other Irish hits have gone and left the bar.

Fontaines D.C., meanwhile, release new album Skinty Fia on April 22, and with it comes a confession: “Sorry it’s not disco, we lied. It’s an album of terrible lows and even worse highs. We love yous all.” We guess that rules out a “Discothèque” cover next year.

Hear at least a snippet of their “One” cover below, and go see the lads when they play Boston’s Paradise Rock Club on April 25.
