Netflix’s ‘Black Crab’: Great title, new trailer

It’s been a little bit since we’ve had a DTS (direct-to-streaming) action vehicle with a title as genuinely goofy as Adam Berg’s Black Crab, given that most of them now include either “vengeance,” “death” or “kill” in somewhere in there. Mystery can be underrated, sometimes, and we’re just gonna say that we wouldn’t exactly have assumed that this was a postapocalyptic thriller starring Noomi Rapace as a speed-skater-turned-assassin if you gave us those two words on their own and demanded we figure out the plot. Anyhow, Netflix dropped the trailer for this weird-looking little Swedish film on Tuesday, and, yes, this looks like a Netflix release.

Peep it:

Here’s a synopsis, which looks like it also contains the classic Netflix logline summary right at the end:

“‘Black Crab’ is a Swedish action thriller set in a post-apocalyptic world torn apart by war. During a long, harsh winter, six soldiers embark on a covert mission across a frozen archipelago, risking their lives to transport a mysterious package that could end the war. As they enter hostile enemy territory, they have no idea what dangers lie ahead or who — if anyone — they can trust. But for speed skater turned soldier Caroline Edh, the mission is about something else entirely. Starring Noomi Rapace in a film directed by Adam Berg, ‘Black Crab’ follows six soldiers on a desperate mission to bring an end to the war which has destroyed their lives.”

Black Crab will scurry its way on to Netflix streaming on March 18. We’re kind of intrigued by a “Black Crab, White Claw” themed party, which would be exactly the kind of shit we imagine the frat house would have gone nuts for had we been in a fraternity or sorority in college. But, hey, maybe our cats will be into the concept.
