Old Moon is busting out some oldies to bridge the gap between Altars and whatever lucid LP he dreams up next.
The Lyme, New Hampshire-based project of Tom Weir dropped a compilation named Dreamer, Sleeper last week (December 3), bundling his self-released EPs —Past Lives and Messenger, both from 2020 — with an unreleased tune called “Stranger.” All eight tracks were remastered for the occasion, newly polished and poised to reintroduce Weir’s wistful world.
Think of it as what Weir needed to get himself to the holy headspace of Altars.
“I love how this tape came out, and am super happy to be able to offer some of these songs for the first time in a physical format,” he tells Vanyaland. “Dreamer, Sleeper really feels like a companion piece to my album Altars because it captures some of those songs in their earlier iterations and offers a demo version of ‘Stranger’, which was the first song I wrote for my upcoming second album after Altars was finished.”
