There are quite a few music festivals returning in 2022 after a two-year absence due to the pandemic. We are stoked to relay word that Vermont’s Waking Windows is now among them.
As promised last year and fully announced today (December 8), the multi-faceted music and arts festival is back in downtown Winooski this spring, filling several venues and spaces in the heart of the city with live performances, showcases, art installations, and vendors across three days, May 13 to 15.
Marking Waking Windows’ 10th edition, the 2022 fest features headliners Japanese Breakfast and Dinosaur Jr., plus a healthy and diverse lineup that includes Kikagaku Moyo, Vagabon, Dry Cleaning, The Nude Party, Ric Wilson, Alex Cameron, Yasmin Williams, Habibi, Rough Francis, The Ophelias, Lily Seabird, Dari Bay, and nearly two dozen others.
Welcome back. We’ve long sung the praises of this independent fest, which features dozens and dozens of bands and artists across several stages around Winooski’s city center, spread out among clubs, cafes, churches, and pretty much any other space fit to host a performance. It’s routinely one of the highlights of each year.
Weekend passes are now on sale for $75 via EventBrite, and available without fees at select Vermont locations, like Monkey House, Autumn Records, and a place we never fail to visit when we’re visiting Burlington, the purely awesome Pure Pop Records. “It would behoove you to purchase now, as prices will go up as we get closer to the fest!” organizers say.
Whatever the price, Waking Windows is usually worth the travel and ticket investment, and remains one of our favorite annual festival experiences of the past decade. Check out our extensive coverage of pre-pandemic fests down below, after the 2019 recap video and full lineup poster.
