Editor’s Note: Usually, the best part about the comedy scene blossoming in and around Boston this time of year is that there is never a shortage of shows to check out, as homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore make their way through and around the area. But this year just feels different, as live entertainment is slowly making its way back into our social calendar. We always want to make sure you know about cool stuff going on in the world of comedy, so check back each week for our ongoing Mic’d Up series, detailing the best live comedy shows to consider as you head back out. Below find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (December 5).

The Weed Game Show at Laugh Boston

Dan Hall has assumed the role of maestro of Mary Jane in his latest project: The only game show where the contestants are higher than the points. Come one, come all and witness the reefer madness as contestants work their way through three rounds of trivia, art class, and joint rolling in order to face off in the finals in search of attaining the game’s highest honors. You don’t wanna puff, puff, pass on this one.

Wednesday, December 1 at 8 p.m. :: Laugh Boston, 425 Summer St. in Boston :: Tickets are $20

Small Town Murder at The Wilbur Theatre

Wilbur crowds are accustomed to seeing comedians kill on stage, but there’s something to be said for comics who return to their second sold out room to deliver some stone cold murder. Bringing the latest live edition of their wildly successful podcast back to Boston for a bit of rescheduled fun, James Pietragallo and Jimmie Whisman set off to small town America to make light of another dark moment in their own gruesomely funny ways.

Friday, December 3 at 8 p.m. :: The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston :: Sold out

Jay Whittaker at Nick’s Comedy Stop

You’d be hard-pressed to find a comedian who has the amount of equal parts upbeat energy, charisma and comedic intellect that Jay Whittaker holds. Whether it’s a headlining set or a short few minutes, Whittaker’s comedy power is potent enough to take over the entire room regardless of his time on stage, and his takes on everyday observations and life stories make him as relatable as he is funny.

Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4 at 8 p.m., both nights :: Nick’s Comedy Stop, 100 Warrenton St. in Boston :: Tickets are $20

Nemr at The Wilbur Theatre

His global perspective and innate storytelling abilities put him in high ranking, but what truly makes Nemr such a special voice in comedy is his ability to keep it 100 and keep us on edge with remarkable wit, while also delivering a message that we can all get behind.

Saturday, December 4 at 7 p.m. :: The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston :: Tickets are $40 to $80
