Neemz wears the weight of her ‘Damaged Feelings’ in new video

When demons try to pull her down, Neemz finds a reason to rise even higher. The Boston artist depicts the effects of secret cynics in her new video “Damaged Feelings,” which dropped last Friday (November 12) alongside her debut EP It’s Above Me. The beautifully-choreographed number cloaks Neemz in disorientation — a spell that she’s quick to cast off herself, as she deflects the hunger of a parasitic posse.

“’Damaged Feelings’ addresses the animosity, the envious energy, and the anxiety that comes with encountering people who don’t have the best intentions for you and hinder your growth,” she shares in the video’s description. “It highlights the deep emotions I’ve felt and had to heal from in order to use the pain for gains.”

As the video’s dancers try to crowd her confidence, Neemz instead acclimates to their clingy grasp: “It don’t matter, no / I been living my dreams / Ain’t no energy gone / I’m protecting my feelings,” she raps on the final verse. As for those overly-competitive colleagues? You could say she’s above them now.

Press play on “Damaged Feelings” and It’s Above Me below, and catch Neemz in Lawrence at Centro Nightclub next Friday (November 26).
