Earlier this year, at a time when live music hadn’t fully returned just yet, Nashville emo band Free Throw released a music video for “Ocular Pat Down,” an animated visual that paid tribute to the venues that had to close over the past year due to the coronavirus pandemic — some temporarily, and some for good. Renowned rock clubs like Nashville’s Exit/In, Chicago’s Subterranean, and Atlanta’s Masquerade all made colorful appearances, and repping our ‘hood were Allston’s Great Scott (RIP) and The Sinclair in Cambridge.
“Throughout the last year, we saw so many venues, bars, etc that have felt like second homes to us on the road and at home, suffer immensely because of the pandemic,” said Free Throw drummer Kevin Garcia in June. “First to close, last to open, last to get the support. We wanted to highlight some of these places in the ‘Ocular Pat Down’ video and bring some attention to a few killer venues that are still very much hurting or have had to close their doors for good.”
Now Free Throw are finally able to hit up venues across the country in person, unveiling a string of 2022 tour dates in support of new album Piecing It Together, released in June via Triple Crown Records. Included are some shows the band had to postpone this fall, too. They kick off the New Year with 19 shows, including a January 13 romp at Brighton Music Hall in Allston. Get all the dates below, get ticket information here, and watch that “Ocular Pat Down” video for the billionth time.
