Editor's Note: It was a Saturday night on Lansdowne Street, but not just any Saturday night (December 7). SantaCon had descended on the strip, with drunken boys and girls coming from the farthest reaches of New England suburbia to display a public shitfacedness usually reserved for St. Patrick's Day. Batting through the boozy wall of bad decisions were Pennsylvania's The Menzingers, who fought through an army of sloshed Santas to deliver the rock -- via an appropriately titled 2019 album Hello Exile -- to fortress we call The House of Blues. By their side were Culture Abuse and Tigers Jaw, fellow soldiers in music determined to capture the flag high atop 15 Lansdowne St. and celebrate victory among its anti-jolly supporters. Vanyaland's John Hutchings was in the room to secure visuals of the bands in action, a victory dance safe on stage and far away from the madness on display out on the boozy streets barren of goodwill and sanctity.
