The ‘Bombshell’ trailer shows the start of Roger Ailes’ downfall

It’s been a little bit since we heard anything about Jay Roach’s Bombshell, the drama about all of the drama that happened at Fox News during the downfall of the network’s head honcho, Roger Ailes. Its first trailer was, well, intriguing enough (though it has, on occasion, caused audiences we’ve seen it with to laugh, especially when Kidman walks into the elevator). And since it’s been a chilly day at least at the Vanyaland offices, we hope that this brand new trailer that Lionsgate dropped earlier on Tuesday will help warm you up, either with rage (on whatever the side of the aisle you may fall on) or with… uh, glee at the thought of Ailes burning in hell? Who knows.

Anyway, all we do know is that Jay Roach has a make-up fetish that should have been squashed back after he decided to go all “serious filmmaker” after the Austin Powers movies, and we hope he gets help for it. Seriously, why make Charlize Theron and John Lithgow sit in the make-up chair for hours when you’re going to that to them? Jesus. It’s not like actors need to look like the people they’re portraying on screen all of the time — that’s what our imaginations are for!

Peep it:

Here’s a bullshit-filled synopsis that really wants you to remember just how many of its cast members have won awards in the past:

“Starring Academy Award winner Charlize Theron, Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman, Academy Award nominee John Lithgow and Academy Award nominee Margot Robbie, based on the real scandal, ‘Bombshell’ is a revealing look inside the most powerful and controversial media empire of all time; Fox News, and the explosive story of the women who brought down the infamous man who created it. Directed by Emmy Award winner Jay Roach and written by Academy Award winner Charles Randolph.”

Bombshell hits theaters on December 20.
