So here’s David Hasselhoff’s cover of ‘Head On’ by The Jesus And Mary Chain

Cleopatra/Screengrab

Hey remember when the Pixies covered The Jesus and Mary Chain’s “Head On” and included it on their 1991 album Trompe Le Monde, just two short years after the original came out? That was weird! Well, nearly three decades later, here’s one even weirder: David Hasselhoff has today (September 24) released his own version of the classic alternative staple, the latest offering from the Hoff’s bizarre covers album, this Friday’s Open Your Eyes.

Apparently this has been a favorite of Hasselhoff’s live sets over the past few years, and its inclusion here makes sense, as Open Your Eyes sees the global star cover Echo and the Bunnymen, Modern English, David Bowie, and others. Hell, he even teams up with Ministry’s Al Jourgensen to cover “Sweet Caroline.”

Joining Hasselhoff on this JAMC cover is The Cars’ guitarist Elliot Easton, so there’s even a Boston connection beyond “Sweet Caroline.”

What a world we’re living in.
