Pixies bolt back with force on new single ‘On Graveyard Hill’

This past Saturday marked the 30th anniversary of Pixies‘ classic 1989 single “Here Comes Your Man,” a song so fresh it still sounds like it was released 20 minutes ago. Which, we’re glad it wasn’t, because it would lead to a lot of confusion since Black Francis and the band are back with a new track today (June 3) called “On Graveyard Hill.”

There’s a nice crunchy heaviness to this new Pixies tune, particularly in Paz Lenchantin’s bass lines, and it sounds like the band in classic form. “On Graveyard Hill” will be featured on the their forthcoming album, Beneath The Eyrie, which hits September 13 via Infectious Music. The album’s recording sessions, which took place late last year at Dreamland Recordings in New York State, will be chronicled in a 12-part podcast series.

Pixies are set to tour Europe this fall, but not before an August appearance at The Cure’s Pasadena Daydream Festival in California.
