In recent weeks Robert Smith teased news of The Cure planning something special out on the West Coast, a specially-curated music festival along the lines of their Curiosa fest from the 2000s and last summer’s 40th anniversary show at London’s Hyde Park.
On Tuesday afternoon, word hit, and it’s quite remarkable: It’s called Pasadena Daydream Festival, it goes down August 31 at Los Angeles County’s Brookside at the Rose Bowl, and the lineup is impressive.
Taking part in the Labor Day weekend fest, in addition to The Cure, are Pixies, Deftones, Mogwai, Throwing Muses, The Joy Formidable, Chelsea Wolfe, The Twilight Sad, Emma Ruth Rundle, and Kaelan Mikla.
“Hyde Park was a fabulous experience, the whole day was really magical,” Smith says in a press release via Goldenvoice, “and we wanted to create something with a similar celebratory vibe for this summer.”
Tickets are priced at $149 for general admission and $299 for VIP, and they go on sale at noon Pacific time on Friday (May 17).
