There are new albums out today from indie titans like Vampire Weekend, and Big Thief, but few things have jumped out of our speakers quite like “Pressure”, a guitar-rock banger from a fast-riser straight out of South Wales named Jack Perrett.
We got hip to this joint this morning via the always on-point crew at This Feeling, and we can’t quite shake it off our Spotify even after a dozen listens. The track rages like a mouthy cousin of Jake Bugg and Oasis, and the young musician has already garnered comparisons to those names as well as The Stone Roses and Kasabian. Yowza.
“I think musically those inspirations are there to hear,” Perrett told It’s All Indie last summer. “But I do try to make all of my songs sound different… Lyrically I try and put the language and phrases that I use and that I hear my friends use. I am always trying to progress as a musician though. I am trying to learn how to play piano and the drums, although it is taking me a while [laughs].”
No need for the piano balladry when you’re busy proving guitars are still alive and well. Swandive deep into the shock of Perrett’s rock lightning via “Pressure” below, and get ready to embrace your new favorite artist.
