Photo Gallery: Band Splash 2019 at Big Surf Waterpark in Tempe

Big Surf Waterpark welcomed the second annual Band Splash music festival on Sunday (April 28), showcasing some of the best emerging alternative artists and a few familiar names. If you’re wondering if you incorrectly read “waterpark” in the same sentence as “music festival,” you did not. In fact, Tempe’s Band Splash isn’t even the first to do it in Arizona — the single-day festival piggy backs off of the famous Wet Electric, an EDM festival that takes over the same park on the Saturday before. This year’s lineup featured Sum 41, SWMRS, The Wrecks, I Don’t Know How But They Found Me, Chapel, Super Whatevr, and Twin XL, as well as locals allhumans, Love Like Fiction, and The Brightside. While attendance may not have rivaled Wet Electric, Band Splash reportedly welcomed in twice as many guests as last year, and seems to be working out kinks from last year such as the timing and resulting cooler temperatures. If Band Splash continues to attract such stacked lineups and spot-on sponsors, it may prove to be a smash hit. Check out the scene from yesterday’s action below.
