Live Nation announced yesterday (April 25) that the company had “acquired an interest” in Levitate Music & Arts Festival, Massachusetts’ own roots and reggae music festival located south of Boston in Marshfield.

The festival, which launched in 2013 as a one-day event, has expanded significantly over the past six years, this year growing to include a third day for the annual summer affair. According to the statement from Live Nation, in recent years Levitate has drawn “upwards of 30,000 attendees.”

“Dan, Jess and their community have poured their hearts and souls into creating Levitate Music Festival, and we look forward to working with them to build this truly unique experience,” says Don Law, president of Live Nation New England, in the announcement release. “They have exceptional instincts in crafting a remarkable event for their audience and we look forward to connecting even more fans and artists through this boutique festival experience.”

Festival co-founders — and also owners of Levitate Surf Shop — Daniel and Jessica Hassett weighed in on the matter, stating: “From the start we’ve strived not only to bring our community together, but also to share music and art with the world here in our own backyard.  We’ve admired and been friendly with Don and his staff at the New England Live Nation office for years. We’re honored to now have the opportunity to work alongside them officially as we work together to make Levitate the most unique experiential music and arts event on the East Coast.”

The 2019 edition of Levitate will be held from July 12 to 14; view the full lineup below, and click here for more info on the upcoming edition.
