We’ll admit we were a little bit surprised to not see Jenny Lewis on the festival lineups for Boston Calling and Governors Ball, but it’s clear we’ll still get a heavy fix of the former Rilo Kiley singer as we barrel into 2019.
The first step in Lewis’ re-introduction (as if she needs one) comes today in the form of new single “Red Bull & Hennessy”, which is hitting us in all the right Fleetwood Mac-meets-Kate Bush places (we can’t get the Mac’s “Gypsy” out of our heads already). “Red Bull & Hennessy” and all its jangly, Laurel Canyon pop swagger is the lead offering from Lewis’ forthcoming album On The Line, which hits March 22 via Warner Bros. and serves as her follow-up to 2014’s The Voyager.
Us here in New England will have plenty of chances to see Lewis live and in person, as later this year she plays a handful of regional dates with Death Cab For Cutie (June 11 in Portland, Maine; June 12 in Burlington, Vermont; and June 14 in New Haven, Connecticut) as well as a few solo shows (June 16 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and June 22 in Northampton). Get all her tour dates here, and pour some “Red Bull & Hennessy” below.
