The Lemon Twigs and Jackie Cohen live at The Paradise Rock Club

Photo Gallery: The young Long Island band straight outta the suburbs made a lovely racket Monday night in Boston

We’re always skeptical of anything that emerges from Long Island, but on the other hand, we’re also impressed by anyone who breaks out of New York’s shadowy suburban landscape. So the fast rise of The Lemon Twigs is nothing short of remarkable. On Monday (January 14), the young band, led by brothers Brian D’Addario and Michael D’Addario, played The Paradise Rock Club in Boston to an intimate but lively crowd, one that latched on to the band’s sterling mix of indie-pop, psych, and experimental ’60s guitar-rock. The Lemon Twigs, who formed in high school just a few years ago, were in town showing off last summer’s catchy-as-hell LP Go To School, and the audience hung on to every hook. Bryan Lasky was inside and all around the ‘Dise to capture snaps of the Twigs and opener Jackie Cohen, and you can flip through his full gallery below.
